Building our faith with God can be a real struggle for true Christians. Our daily lives are filled with so much worries and troubles that we often forget to build and secure our faith. We often get distracted by little details but we fail to see the whole picture or live our lives in accordance with God’s will.
The problem here is that we believe in general Christian beliefs but we don’t necessarily work to apply them in practice: We believe that Jesus is the son of god, that he is our savior born and risen after death to save our souls from death/hell and that he performed many divine miracles during his life here on earth. We may even remember certain verses and quotes from the scripture but we do so half-heartedly. For outsiders, this many seem natural, but for us true Christians, it means that we have to work harder to build our faith and maintain a rewarding relationship with our father GOD.
As in Proverbs 3:5, we must “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Human reasoning has its limitations, whereas true faith in GOD has no limitations at all! Without faith in GOD, we become anxious, worry-some and even unhappy. And this state is something that neither pleases us, nor GOD. Thus, it is important to apply all the necessary steps to get in the right direction.
If You Really Want to Strength This Aspect of Your Relationship with GOD, These Steps Below Will Help:
1) Keep a track of your faith journey by expressing your thoughts in written form. Writing your daily thoughts and faith struggles on a piece of paper, is very comforting and a great way to build your faith long-term. You may think at first “How this is going to help me build my faith?” but over time you’ll see that it works. When we keep a track of our thoughts, concerns and prayers, we’ll eventually notice that many of our concerns are answered in both subtle and powerful ways by GOD. It gives us a sense of direction and accomplishment and strengthens our long-term faith and trust in GOD, as a result.
2) Dedicate at least a few minutes every day to GOD. Although most of us are very busy with our daily struggles, if we really want to find some time for God, we will. God doesn’t ask for devotion 24/7. If we manage to dedicate at least 10 minutes of our time to build a faithful relationship with God, we’ll achieve it. You can try making your own prayers, meditate with God in mind or attend church service in case you have more free time.
3) Try to obey God’s will and commandments. This may sound hard at first, but if you really want to build your faith in God and get an answer to your problems without feeling forsaken by God, you have to obey him and listen to any godly thoughts that may cross your mind. You have to ask yourself every day “Is this in accordance to God’s will and commandments?” “Am I sinful?” “What can I do to strengthen my faith and relationship with God through obedience?”. If you answer these questions and apply them in your daily live, God will listen to you and help you overcome your struggles and strengthen your faith as a result.
4) Remove anything bad from your life, that distracts you from following a Godly path and weakens your faith. It is impossible to filter-out and stop all temptations that may come our way but it’s the way we deal with them that matters. When temptations and struggles hit you, don’t panic and don’t pay them more attention than they deserve. Instead, try to focus on the big picture and see them as challenges, or blessing to get closer with God and become a faithful servant of God’s will.
Although faith is something that is not tangible (we can’t see nor touch it by physical means(, it doesn’t mean it’s not an achievable spiritual state. God wants us to realize that and build our faith unconditionally, just like he believes and loves his children-us.
